Today, he cries community PHP from a friend. There are three weeks, Richard Thomas, Member of the community and friend to all those who knew died. I had planned to write about this post today and am ashamed that I put so long. Thanks to the position of Jeff Moore and Paul M. Jones post I remembered my duty to my friend.
I didn't know Richard as well as some. I've hooked up with him on IRC, and exchanged stories of horror and coding tips work whenever we met at conferences. I had the privilege to see just days before he past when we were in CodeWorks Portland. I was able to talk to him a little lunch and between sessions. Unfortunately for me, that conversation centred around subjects also trivial that I not even recall the details, the fact that he was with Richard.
Jeff blog:
Richard is survived by his wife Lisa and the daughter of four years Nicollette. Donations are accepted to help. Even if you have not had contact with Richard, consider making a donation if you made a freelance, working as Richard did at the time of his death. Donations can be sent to: Niki, funds 4818 Davis square # G, Renton WA 98055
While I would like to never distract a moment, Paul makes an excellent point on his post I'm Reposter here for everyone because it wisely is the advice of a man I respect greatly.
And now, a note practice: many folk PHP there freelance or independent consultants, or in other types of situations of instability in the employment. If you're one of them, and you have a family, * please * consider purchasing term insurance life to take care of your loved ones if you suddenly pass. Get even if you are very young. It is not expensive. It is not the only thing that you should prepare, but it is an important thing.
Richard died at his computer doing what he loved programming. Will miss us you Richard, the world is a little darker place without you.
