Best Buy vs Amazon: MacBook Air Edition (CNet)

Amazon offers one of the best deals on inflamed MacBook air holidays. But don't count in the California retail giant Fry electronics prior to performing the usual comparison with Best Buy.

Amazon is used a fairly large part on the popular 11.6 inch MacBook Air, offering MC505LL A model now for $959, which lists the Apple for $999 (1.4 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo chip, 64 GB flash memory drive and 2 GB of RAM). This was based on a verification of prices, I've done on Saturday morning, Pacific time. This brings me to a cautionary note: the price may change rapidly as the demand for this unit seems high.

Electronic Fry - which stores giant warehouse-size are found mainly in California and Texas - will beat this price though. A Fry that Friday night in Los Angeles, I visited, the model MC505LL A air was on sale for $949.

Not to be outdone, the MacConnection sells the same model for $1, $948. Although online shop shows "order."

Amazon offers also the model MacBook Air 11.6 inches/MC506LL/A (which ups capacity of 128 GB 64 GB flash drive) for $1,148.99, a discount of $50 on the list price.

So far, Best Buy is not offering any special offers on new MacBook air.

(Correction: 13.3 inches of current generation model is available for $1,299 drive 128 GB, 2 GB of memory flash memory with a core 2 Duo 1.86 GHz processor.) It is a few hundred dollars I paid for the model of 13.3 inches configured in the same way before generation processor 1.86 GHz solid-state drive same capacity with the same amount of memory. Ironically, this older model is listed for $1,699 site of Best Buy. Go figure. )

And I will add that PostScript: Fry beats Best Buy high hand (for the effort, not necessarily the result) on the interior decoration. (Amazon can compete because there is no brick and mortar stores.) I have been stores FRY everywhere, California - Palo Alto, Sacramento, San Diego and Los Angeles and start in Phoenix, Arizona, too - and still I find myself contemplating or scratch my head to the curious dioramas that usually occupy a corner of the store (see photo). And decor, but also deals usually get amped up during the holidays.

Updated at 9: 30 p.m. PST: correction for the current MacBook Air 13.3 inch 1.86 GHz processor.
