Startup insights: Place a product on the market (DevX)

A product is obviously better than do not have a product at all, but not by much.  Bringing a product to market is only the first step for a voyage long and painful to make the desired product, respected, actually used by people on a basis consistent and finally adopted massively. In this article we are going to 10 typical to bring a product to market considerations.

Now, it has been well documented that "If you build it, they come."  The level of the indifference of web consumers is depressing.  There are already too many products out there and not many people want to learn how to use the new.  Existing sites are likely to do much of what you do, and they are probably much better since you are new. Your differentiation factor is not necessarily irresistible or obvious and you averaged approximately 15 seconds to win on each person who visits your website or your product - no chance.  Difficult that bring people to your site, most of them come look for eye and leave without leaving a trace.  It is a reality of the web.  Indifference is deafening.

It is not too much of a problem which only concern your product at the beginning.  You can watch just to it as a challenge.  The best way to overcome indifference is to speak to many people who come in contact with your product that you are able to get a hold of and their application where the product came short for them and their current solutions stack.  This will give you an idea of what needs to be improved and after that improve you parts of the site or product, you can join some of those people again. Probably you will face yet indifference hard just iterate unique product does not go to work wonders for you, but over time these efforts will be keeping a steady buzz about your product, help you develop strong relationships and you will earn the respect of your customers adhering to their needs.  More importantly, your product has gradually matured and improved, the level of indifference will naturally be ebb and excitation level increase slowly because there is something to get excited about once your product is at a level of quality.

Your customers and non-customers who are potential clients know the gaps in your product better than anyone else.  They can tell you what is their bored on the product and what keeps them from turning their existing solutions.  Attention to what is bothering your customers and clients closely.  If this is something that they need is simple to implement and in line with your product vision a greater, to implement the improvements that they need. It will improve your relationship with them and your product at the same time.

If the requirement is something that is very difficult or intensive resources to work, but logic for your vision of the final product, inform customers that you are going to be put on your list of tasks in the near future.  For customers from the point of view, you can even use the next short to your advantage and just ask to know if you can count on their business if you want impleent they need.

Customers are always right, correct?  Bad!  Sometimes client applications do not match your larger vision for the company and the product. Sometimes a client comes up with a list of changes that may be good suggestions, but 4 and 5 on a scale of priority 1-5 laundry.

If you try to please the customers, you may lose your vision and waste resources focus (employee time and money) features of the building and are not the most important for your business. If requests are reasonable but low priority, be open with your customers on their addition to the queue for the improvement of the product.  In this way, the client feels that their demands are met and that you give yourself the flexibility required to achieve these features when more fire features are already created.

If the requests and suggestions are unreasonable, you shouldn't affect your product to customers, please.  You are probably better to something that can appeal to the client as explaining them why this particular suggestion was not taken and ensuring they believe that their option is respected.  Another approach is to say that the suggestion has been added to the list of tasks to and is delayed by a backlog of functionality.

As you struggle against the indifference of the consumer, an iteration on your product, and your best to make your customers happy, your product will pass by a flurry of changes, improvements, bug fixes and usability fixes.  This will be the initial architecture of product with a great test.
Design of the product at the same time its brand and its architecture technology base, keep things General, imprecise and flexible as possible.  Nobody knows what the future will bring and during the phase of innovation and iteration of the product, flexibility is one of the greatest assets.

10 Considerations for building a start-up team (DevX)

Traditional and very insufficient, wisdom was a founding team should consist of 3-4 members with combined engineering and entrepreneurship skill sets. Although it appears to the right, it is too general.  In this article, I'm on some roles key competencies and the aspects of business culture which should be considered when you put together your founding team.

Perhaps a more old school could frown on article starts by discussing business instead of its products, markets, technologies, or other things which may be regarded as tangible culture.  But a team of construction is the process of construction and some glue that cements the moving parts.  This glue, which is the culture of the team, connects and effects of each Member of the team and plays an important role in the way in which they go about their daily tasks.  There impacts how innovative that they are and how creativity, they are able to gather.  It will also ultimately shape how your company appears to the outside world.

Different managers have styles and different views on culture "better". The main if leader on this subject is Tony Hsieh, who is the founder of Zappos, which is a huge success.  Tony approach is to treat everyone with respect, equality and try to make everyone happy that they possibly can. This makes team more satisfied and more satisfied customers.

This position is one which does not move away from the traditional approach.  You must absolutely anyone to be able to architect regardless of the system that you construct to be flexible, extensible and adoptable.  Note that I did not say scalable.  When you're in the steps of creating a team, it is likely that for the first year or not you face problems of scalability.  Instead of this, will you innovate with attempts to implement the various features that will make your product a winner.  To do this, the central piece of the puzzle you need to be designed with a view of the flexibility.

The software architecture would be is not employed full-time in a start-up company.  There are not enough architect.  Most of the time this person can also be spent developing these features.  If the person is very good, it will be also the vision produced and usability that will help him to obtain features the first time and remove the need for a product very involved person.

Ideally, you should also add a person who can make the following roles: user interface design and development, graphic design and help the architect implement some features on the server side.

If possible, this person may also help in doing SEO, or participate in some of the social media efforts.  Ideally, this person would be young, eager to learn, very creative and energetic.

Modern consumer-web marketing is twofold.  There are the old consumer and ever tighter feedback loop where marketers get in contact with prospects and existing clients and listen to their current and future needs.  After listening to the needs of the population that they join, they help in the future the product mold in ensuring that the needs of these people will be met with the next versions of the product.  This jurisdiction takes the market and industry warned as well as experience in knowing when to listen and when the feeling that accommodate a particular request will be finally promises for the future of the product.  While this type of role takes some seasoning and experience, young people tend to Excel in social media marketing.

In recent years we were all witness an increase to a new paradigm on the web: the social web. The social aspect of the web has led to the social aspect of marketing.  You have someone on your team that can make your brand to take advantage of Facebook, Twitter, StumbleUpon, Digg, Reddit and a number of other networking sites social.  This person should also have enough savvy social-web to the right suggestions on how and where the real product should promote and encourage social use.

In addition to social media marketing, it is also necessary for the commercialization of SEO/SEM.  It is another dimension that the small team of marketing must master.  SEO is a long-term approach to generate great leads free and SEM is a way to purchase these tracks.  No modern consumer web company focused cannot afford not to focus on these.

Regardless of whether the technical skills, marketing team members may have at least some of the people should possess industrial context. For example, if you create a site mode, at least some of the people has solid experience in fashion and an understanding of how the mode ecosystem functions.  Team members should also have a high Visual intelligence because their customers oriented fashion.  If the founding team is not in the domain, it may find itself adrift when it comes to making difficult decisions produced and who need bring additional people aboard, stretch scarce resources and make it more complex communication cycle.

Prior knowledge of the area you are going to work with is essential.  It is one of the main potential investors may seek the assessment of your team.
